Processing guidelines

Starting parameters for your line.

Typical set-up values for this grade. Use them as a starting window and fine-tune on your machine — the batch Material Test Report gives the measured MFI and moisture for the exact lot you receive.

💧
Drying
160–170°C, 4–6 h · dew point −40°C
Essential — moisture must be <50 ppm to protect IV
🌡️
Melt temperature
270–290°C
Keep residence time short; every 10°C over drops IV
🔥
Barrel profile
Feed 260 · Comp 275 · Met 285 · Nozzle 280°C
Hot-runner systems at 280–290°C
🧊
Mould temperature
10–40°C (amorphous / preforms)
120–140°C where crystalline parts are required
⚙️
Screw speed
40–80 rpm
Low compression screw (2.5:1–3:1) preferred
📐
Shrinkage
0.2–0.5% (amorphous)
1.0–1.5% crystalline

Setup notes from our materials team
IV dropExpect 0.02–0.04 dl/g IV loss through a well-dried process. Under-drying is the most common cause of hazy, brittle parts — verify dryer dew point before every run.
Bottle-to-bottleFor preforms, blend 25–50% with virgin bottle-grade PET initially. Full-rPET preforms run well with a 5°C lower melt and slightly longer dry cycle.
Sheet & thermoformingIdeal for APET sheet at 0.80 IV. Use a vented extruder or crystallised feed to control moisture.
PurgingPurge with virgin PET; never leave rPET static in a hot barrel — degradation is fast above 290°C.
Values are typical starting points for standard equipment, not guarantees. Always confirm against the batch MTR and your own trial. Spec sheet (PDF) ↓ · Talk to a materials engineer
Batch-to-batch consistency

Every batch, measured. Here's the spread.

The number-one question we get on PCR is consistency. This is the melt flow result from each recent batch of this grade, plotted against the spec band. Anything outside the band is held and never shipped.
