Most of Lombok has never had a formal waste service — so plastic goes into fields, rivers and the sea. These three programmes fix that at every stage: a bin at every door, a paid collector network and sorting hub that turns waste into income, and a manufacturing line that turns what we recover into furniture for local classrooms. All funded by the Impact Fund built into every Honest Ocean order.
Impact isn't a donation bolted onto our business — it's built into the supply chain. Funding from every tonne sold flows to Honest MADE, our community recycling operation in Kuta, South Lombok. That funding buys the bins, pays the collection crews and collectors, runs the sorting hub, and powers the manufacturing line turning recovered plastic into school furniture. Everything is weighed, logged, photographed and tied back to your order.
Bin Collection System
Most of the island has never had a bin collection — so we built one. Homes, villas, warungs and businesses subscribe to a sorted-waste bin, collected weekly by our local crews on fixed routes. Every pickup is weighed and logged against the subscriber's address, so the plastic a household separates today can be traced into a batch of resin next month. It's South Lombok's first door-to-door waste service, growing route by route.

Collector Network & Sorting Hub
Beyond the bin routes, 320 independent collectors bring plastic from beaches, villages and roadsides to the Honest MADE hub and are paid per kilogram at a published board price. At the hub every load is weighed, sorted by polymer and baled, and given a batch ID that follows it all the way to the container leaving Antwerp. It's the step that turns waste into a livelihood — and into material a European manufacturer can audit.

Classroom Furniture
This is where the loop closes. Plastic recovered from the bins, beaches and collector network is processed at the Honest MADE centre and manufactured into desks, chairs and tables for local schools. Children sit at furniture made from waste collected in their own villages — a daily, physical lesson that plastic is a resource, not rubbish. Every piece is durable, weather-proof and traceable to its source material.

The Honest MADE village programme, sponsored by Honest Ocean clients: one village, three fixes — water, waste collection, school — built in 40 weeks and reported for 12 months in the numbers your CSRD report needs.
Within a year you will have clean water, weekly collection that pays you, and a school built from your own plastic — and it will keep running after we step back.

Water
Sachet and bottled water is the biggest single source of village plastic. Fix the water, cut the waste at source.

Six phases, six gates, 40 weeks.
Nothing moves to the next phase until the gate closes. Sponsor tranches are released at gates 3, 4, 5 and 6.

What turns a nice story into a claim you can defend to an auditor.
Collection points within 50 km of the coast qualify. Honest MADE collection points audited under the Zero Plastic Oceans standard; the GPS map in the ops portal is half the evidence.
Batch ID assigned at the bank sampah, carried through Honest MADE processing to the Honest Ocean container. Your resin links back to your village on paper.
Annual audit of tonnage and buy-back payments by an independent accountant or verifier.
Tonnes of food-grade-eligible rPET and rHDPE reported per village, so you can show supply security toward EU 2030 recycled-content minimums.
Once tonnage is verified, Verra Plastic Waste Reduction Standard or PCX scoped so a sponsor can hold a tradable, verified tonne.
