Processing guidelines

Starting parameters for your line.

Typical set-up values for this grade. Use them as a starting window and fine-tune on your machine — the batch Material Test Report gives the measured MFI and moisture for the exact lot you receive.

💧
Drying
80°C, 1–2 h
Recommended — PP absorbs little, but PCR can carry surface moisture
🌡️
Melt temperature
200–240°C
Injection moulding · caps & closures typically 210–225°C
🔥
Barrel profile
Feed 180 · Comp 210 · Met 225 · Nozzle 220°C
Flat profile, moderate back pressure
🧊
Mould temperature
20–50°C
Lower for cycle time, higher for surface finish
⚙️
Injection speed
Medium–fast
Fill fast, hold at 30–50% of injection pressure
📐
Shrinkage
1.2–2.0%
Comparable to virgin homopolymer PP
🧪
MFR (230°C / 2.16 kg)
10–15 g/10min
ISO 1133 · MFR 4 and 8 grades available
🎨
Colour
100% natural
Slight cream tone — masterbatch at 2–4% for opaque colours
Setup notes from our materials team
NucleationGrade is un-nucleated. Add 0.1–0.2% nucleating agent if you need faster cycle times or higher stiffness on thin-wall parts.
Gate & ventingStandard PP gate sizing. Ensure good venting — PCR PP releases slightly more volatiles than virgin at the higher melt temps.
Blend-in ratioRuns neat. For food-contact applications start at 50% with virgin FDA PP and validate migration before going to 100%.
RegrindUp to 20% in-house regrind can be added without measurable MFR drift on this grade.
Values are typical starting points for standard equipment, not guarantees. Always confirm against the batch MTR and your own trial. Spec sheet (PDF) ↓ · Talk to a materials engineer
Batch-to-batch consistency

Every batch, measured. Here's the spread.

The number-one question we get on PCR is consistency. This is the melt flow result from each recent batch of this grade, plotted against the spec band. Anything outside the band is held and never shipped.
